USB Powered Hard drive + AC Powered USB Hub work on PS3?

I have heard that USB powered hard drives will NOT work with Backup Manager/Gaia, etc…but, I still have the AC powered USB hub that came with Rock Band for the Xbox360. I was wondering if you can plug the Hard drive into that, then plug the USB hub into the PS3 and use it with Gaia? This will also give you more USB ports if you want to connect USB sticks or another USB hard drive? Will this work? That would definitely give me an extra 250GB space to play with

thanks for your reply….its given me an idea….a few 1TB drives on USB, and a 1TB drive internal….imagine 7TB for the PS3..i mean, that would be a good bit….and could probably hold all the jailbreakable games LOL….

Haha great point. I've never thought of adding space like that, I always think how much would ONE hard drive be. I might get a hub soon. Not for being able to connect more things (might be useful for the future though), but mainly because it's so freaking difficult to connect stuff, since the ports are under that damn overhang! I get worried that I might **** up the ports as I can't be bothered to look when I'm connecting a cable xD

I have a hub that plugs into the front port of the ps3 and it allows me to have upto three usb hdds and my jailbreak device plugged in at once without the needs to ever remove the usb cable. As long as you have the usb hdds plugged into the same port as the dongle there is no need to remove them before jailbreaking pair that with a power switch for the back of the slim and the whole prices becomes less archaic. Just a flip of the switch and press power then eject and sit back and enjoy.

7TB may sound like TOO much for PS3 games, but I ran across someone that uploaded 7.46TB in PS3 games. Now, I don't know if they all WORK or what, but I see that its possible to fill 7TB of PS3 games!

@[C*] yea, i tend to have to lift my PS3 up a couple inches when I plug in the iPhone for the jailbreak, i REALLY hate having to do it the iPhone method, and really just tempted to get an iPod Nano 1g or Sansa e200 from eBay….

I've seen SOO many problems on ordering those things from different sites, etc…..could u tell me a good dependable site which sales jailbreak devices for less than $20? One that is REALLY easy to program?
