Multiman can emulate dev_flash just like the older usb firmware loaders, check out the multiman threat here http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/mul...hd-bdmv-72826/

I would prefer a USB firm loader tho, Its a shame there isnt a one. I posted a thread about it yesterday but there was no reply. *The Beatles comes to mind*
