Upgrading HDD with Rebug 4.21.1?
Upgrading HDD with Rebug 4.21.1? –
I have a 120GB I'm on planning on replacing with a WD5000BPVT this black friday, is there anything I need to keep in mind since I'm on cfw? I've heard the OS is partially stored on the HDD
If you have a slim or a NOR fat, you will need to re-install the firmware. Those are the models that partially store the firmware on the hard drive. Also, if you use the official back up method, it will not back up your trophies. The PS3 will only recognize an internal hard drive up to 1TB, so don't get one larger than that.
Absolutely DO NOT use the WD5000BPVT, you will have severe stuttering issues with your backups!!

I had a Western Digital drive in my PS3 before and it did not work fluidly at all. I switched to a ST9500325AS drive w/ the jumper set, and my backups suddenly worked as intended. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend using a confirmed drive, as it will save you much headache. Even so, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use the WD5000BPVT!
