    The only thing you need to do (I heard this but I haven't done it) is you have to format your HDD so no traces of CFW are detected when you update.

    I never did that, I have a system with 3.66 still showing my homebrew. Going strong since the 3.60 update. I'm 98% sure Sony won't do anything with brew on the HDD as long as you're not using CFW on PSN.

    Even then, they never banned anyone for using cfw when it was possible to get on psn with cfw. It's possible they could change that policy in the future, so if you are really paranoid, you may want to clean it out, but it's highly unlikely, so i wouldn't bother.
