Yeah you can install Rebug 4.30.1 over Rogero 4.30 v2.05.
You said you "installed QA flag", did u actually enable QA? Because just installing the pkg will not do anything.

I installed the qa flag and heard the beeps.
I tried the button combo but it didnt seem to do anything.
What is the correct procedure for getting this working?
Is it most important to have the qa flag working properly before messing with other firmwares?
I just dont want to brick ps3 or something.
Thanks for all advice.
If you heard the beeps then you should be OK. You should try the button combo when ON Network Settings NOT IN Network Settings.
Basically, you make sure you enable QA while on 3.55 because it cannot be enabled on higher FW and it is needed for safer and easier downgrading in case you ever need to downgrade. You can still downgrade if QA is not enabled but you have to go through downgrader PUPs and dehashing and all this sort of stuff. Also, QA enabled makes it safer to switch between different CFWs without having to think too much whether you're going to brick or not.
Ok. So can i assume that its qa flagged ok?
I hope not to have to return to lower firmware.
You cannot assume anything. If the button combo works on Network Settings, this means you are QA enabled, if not, this means you are not. (This is assuming your're still on Rogero)
