Updating games? –
11-18-2010,07:28 PM
I'm tempted to buy the PS3-go dongle right now. Is there any reason to wait? Something better coming along?
So with jailbrake most games are not updatable? What kind of things to updates do? Is this not a big deal to anyone?
I read that performance may improve for some games and slow down in others. Is It clear generally does JB improve performance? Better load times ect..? I heard with JB you can't skip ingame movies?

it won't slow down games and skip cinematic movies. most games aren't updateable. you can check here psjcl.com to know if it's updateable.

Lot of ?s.
Well, it is completely up to you if you wait or not. Something better may come along, but it might not be for along time too. A next-gen dongle might be worth the extra cash, like the E3 card reader, the P3-go, or the x3max.
As for the games, right now we are able to update games through the PSN with an xoeo spoof payload. Or we can download the update, and put it on a usb device, then install it on the PS3 using the jailbreak method. Also, there is a way to FTP the updates so they will appear in non-jailbreak mode.
With the performace, it does seem better when installed internally. There might be some slight issues when backed up externally. Each game is different, and will have it's own issues, some with none.

So no problem with jailbreak not allowing cutscene skips? Is jury still out on whether there is noticeable improvement in performance -ingame and loadtimes played off blueray VS. int. hardrive?
So most games are updatable via flash drive? Really? Is this hard complicated very to do? Is it advised to update every game? I imagine some games may play better with updates? How many PS3 games actually play better noticeably with updates?
tthousand: What did you mean when you said: "there is a way to FTP the updates so they will appear in non-jailbreak mode". Why would I want to do this?

To start off, FTPing updates was the old way to update, now installing updates is available in most payloads. It's Easy. Just go to store.brewology.com, gameupdates, find you game, download the production version, put it on your usb drive, go the //instal packages, and install the updates.
Some games need the update in order to play at all. And then some games have flaws that can ruin your whole save file if you run into them, and that is a good reason to update. BUGS!
I have not noticed, not being able to skip scenes. Everything is still working the same for me. And loading times are alot faster from the internal, as compared to the disc.

If you are still wondering, yes? You don't need PSN for that.

Are you saying with 3.5 spoof you can download/install updates direct from PS3 without PC?

That's what I have been doing. I updated a game, then went to sign online, and it said I need a system update. But, so far the games are still updating. It's better then keeping track of the ID and title, and filename! I used Hermes v4b Xeoe Cyberskunk Evilsperm Eco, & also pl3 psn eco noauth.

I have a question. Do I have to apply all the updates one by one, or just the latest one?
