UPDATED:Backup manager doesn't need a disc in it:UPDATED –
Well, the original psjb told us that backup manager needs original disc in the ps3 for booting process of the game well they lied, you need an original ps3 game in the ps3 only to return to the xmb and can launch a game , they told us it should be original so when we select a game and go back to the xmb can select something to boot from, but the rdx_manager version of the backup manager boots directly to the game does not go back to the xmb.
well here is what i tried, i have my rdx_manager version installed, inserted a ps2 backup game disc while in xmb (i think it also work with psx) and then launch backup manger (rdx version) and load my gta4 game and it launched so that does mean we need no files from an original game disc we need an original game disc just to boot from xmb but if we have rdx_manager instead we can boot up the game directly without going back to the xmb.
what i was trying to say we should decompile the rdx_manager and edit it so we don't need disc in the ps3 . " remember they enabled the disc check just so you can select something to load your game when you go back to the xmb" but we don't need to select something from xmb because rdx_manager boot the game directly without going back to the xmb "i'm not sure why they did that, let you go back to the xmb , maybe because when they update the backup manager they can say we added feature , well who knows
UPDATE: i can confirm now the backup manager has better compatibility than the rdx_manager because blur and killzone 2 did not work with rdx_manager but it worked with the original backup manager

now THIS is a decent idea, and thanks for spelling nicely this time
hahahaha thanks dude emmm... i will always post my ideas and share it with you guys so we can go forward in hacking the ps3
Actually the backup manager never needed files off of an "original PS3 disc." My understanding is that there is a check performed by the system to see if a disc is in the drive before it'll boot a game. Perhaps this is in place to prevent swap-methods? I would think it would be best to have a disc in the drive anyways, a simple check by Sony could perhaps compare disc initializations (logged by the drive itself) to games loaded? Like in the 360 scene its rumored that MS can tell how many times you've started up the DVD drive with the Xbox's power without the data cable plugged in, this enables them to tell if you've tried to flash the drive or not.
well thats true but when you use rdx_manager and play the game you can actually eject the disk and continue playing your game but not with the original backup manager
Which makes sense, as the game is already loaded. Order of operations would be something like: Insert game -> select the game from xmb -> drive check that legit (not-burned) disc is inserted -> if true, run game eboot
However, if the disc gets ejected before it's eboot loads, the eboot won't load. That would prevent someone from putting in a legit disc and swapping for a burned one. I'm extremely simplifying the booting process, and that isn't the only security put in place.
I guess I'm having trouble understanding exactly what you're trying to suggest. Do you want the backup manager to just boot directly to the game instead of kicking you back to the xmb? Do you want to be able to run backup manager without a disc at all? You should check your logs and see if it registers the rdx_manager AND the game as loaded, or just the rdx_manager. Your PS3 stores the last X amount of run programs, so when you run backup manager it stores that LAUN12345 titleid, you select your game, and then you run the loaded game from the xmb and it stores that titleid as well.
It would be suspicious to load a spoofed JB titleid (like the MW2 floating around) for what, like 10 seconds, and then suddenly a different game? Like suddenly the logs around the world show everybody starts playing MW2 for 10 seconds and then they play something else? It would be key if we could make it show up as one game loaded.
The games that fail to work without a "PS3" disc seem to be games that support trophies out of the box. At least the games that I have tried and failed to load properly where due to Trophies being unable to load. Those games load fine with a proper ps3 disc in the drive. Maybe I should try a small game that has trophy support on the disc and see if it fixes the issue. Who knows but it appears that a more updated BM could infact boot games without a "PS3" disc since it partially works now.
Also the only reason why the normal BM does not work with this method is cause it boots you to the XMB and a Burnt game to a DVD does not show up in the GAME section like a Bluray does. Though maybe a Bluray burnt image would work cause I do believe they show up on the XMB but fail to load directly. I have gotten the normal BM to load back to the XMB like normal with a DVD-R copy of a game but can not load it since it does not appear in the GAME on the XMB.
I posted all of this like 3days ago in the other thread about disc copies "Working" when they actually didn't and discovered this as a side effect.
well guys that is the original backup manager , the rdx_manager does not kick you back to the xmb it will load the game but the thing it is not compatible with all the ps3 games like killzone 2 and blur .
install rdx_manager, insert ps3 backup disc or ps2 backup disc even original work and wait until it read it as a data disc run the backup manager (rdx_manager version) then select your game it will boot directly but with the original backup manager it wont it will kick you back to the xmb but with the rdx version after u boot your game you can just eject the disc and it will not exit the game i tried that try it ( google rdx_manager ) and try it so we should like understand the backup manager so we can edit and all these things
Well you don't need an original disc at all if you have the debug launcher.
