So I updated my slim last night no problems. This morning the kid was asking for netflix so I went and took the same flash drive and removed from mine as it was left there all night untampered and put it into my daughter 40gb PS3 to update. Now I have maybe played 40-50 hours of game time on this deck before I got my slim and used it solely, it has since become just a media server for my kids room. I have PlayOn setup and it was sweet.

Anyhow went to update like I said and everything went well the PS3 powered down and got to 100%, it didn't hang or take long nothing. The flash drive has no errors and the darn MD5 matches still. So I go to turn on her machine to start netflix and all I get are a few beeps then complete power off. Thanks a lot Sony I should have stayed where I was as I could have still used netflix through PlayOn. Now I have a 10 pound paper weight.

Wow sorry to hear that bud, man that sucks, and ofcourse sony is going to deny it too.

Yep they sure will, it is of course my fault and mine alone according to Sony. What ticks me off is that PS3 was seriously "like new" as it was out of reach of the kids as she just had access to the bluray remote and it turns it on, off, whatever a normal pad has and she never used the disc drive as she can't reach it and besides her entire library is already ripped to xvids thanks to a sweet app called "fairuse". If it was an older system with a lot of use it wouldn't be so darn bad.

There's nothing stopping you trying the recovery mode stuff - also re-seat the HDD etc

Factory Mode IIRC is on slim (turn off at plug) turn on at plug, hold down power button until it beeps and shuts off, then quickly depress and repress the power button then wait for 2 quick beeps and release the power button.

Hopefully that will get you into the recovery menu

Well im at work as I did it right before I left for work as my wifeknows no matter what never update. I wasn't able to get into recovery mode but im going to format outside of that ps3 and try a new he'd im just worried about all that stuff when you go to 3.56 there is no more hdd upgrades but I need to red into that more. I just posted this to see if any other 3.60 users have had the same bad luck as me.

That blows man, am pissed and it didnt happened to me, am pissed cus your doing a legit fw that is required for some thing that sony imposes on us, and that they wont take resposability.
