Update=Bricking?

If I wanted to just upgrade to 3.55 and forget about keeping the jailbreak will it brick my PS3? I want to be able to download songs for Rock Band but I don't know if my system will get banned due to remnants of the jb-or be bricked.

As of right now, no one has been banned for jailbreaking. If you're really worried, format your hdd and then upgrade.

My answer is pretty much the same as the guy above, I don't think that updating to the newest FW is gonna brick your system; I updated to 3.5 when I was on 3.41 awhile ago and I didn't get my PS3 bricked. And as far as banning goes, no one knows at the moment, if it happens, it happens; no one has gotten banned yet, only time will tell. But if your really worried about getting banned, format your HDD THEN do the update, but no one is sure that that won't get you banned in the future as that hasn't happened yet.
