Unable to install 3.55 Kmeaw

Hey guys, I have been a long time jail break user, my ps3 accidentally got updated to 4.21, I sent it off to someone to get it NAND downgraded back to 3.55, I just got it back today, it was all good and came back with 3.55 with some jail break items on it.

I completely defaulted all settings, reformatted the hard drive, put the official 3.55 firmware on a USB flash drive, went to recovery mode, selected system update had the flash drive in, however it never prompted for the 3.55 OFW update again, I let it go its course, after it finished it ended up at FW 3.01.

So, I kept the flash drive in and went to the main XMB on the normal PS3 screen and went to system,and then system update, it found 3.55 and I was able to install it successfully.

However going into the recovery mode with 3.55 Kmeaw on a flash drive and trying to find it just results in it downgrading back to 3.01, it does not pick up the flash drive firmware in recovery mode.

I tried both USB ports and two different USB sticks, both formatted with FAT32 set up with the correct folder format -FLASHDRIVE:\PS3\UPDATE\*.pup

Should I be jail breaking it with a different PUP file because of the way it was downgraded?

Any ideas guys?

Try instalingl this first. Then from there, you can install anything you want I believe.

I originally tried installing that but I cannot find a valid download link for it...

Thanks, I loaded that up on a flash drive, attempted to install it with the OFW 3.55 FW on the machine but it just reverted to 3.01 like before, I upgraded it back to 3.55 from the XMB, then I tried upgrading from OFW 3.55 to the Rogero 3.55 from the XMB, it detects it fine, when it begins to try to install it says that the firmware is already at this version.

Should I attempt upgrading from 3.01 to Rogero 3.55 from the XMB or will that cause problems?

and yes it should be fine to go straight to Rogero CFW from 3.01 (after removing disc, lol)

Reason: your PS3 is currently QA flagged so you are able to update/downgrade at will (3.55 and lower) the disc has OFW 3.01 on it (the reason I know is I did the same thing, lol)

Yeah thanks again, as soon as I ejected the disc from the PS3 and went to recovery mode the flash drive was instantly detected and started loading the FW off of that. Wish I knew of that sooner and saved my self 4 hours lol.

no problem, live and learn. I did, that's why I'd thought I'd pass the info on to someone else with the same problem (coincidentally I also downgraded to 3.01 )
