ugrade cfw 3.41 to higher or not? –
I have a fat ps3 60gb and I have usb groove and cfw 3.41
I can not play new games. Must I use a another Rogero or multiman or must I upgrade my cfw to 4.46 or anything else.
An after upgrade I don't need use my groove?
Can anybody help me with steps or links.
upgrade to original fw 3.55, then install rebug 4.46REX
3.41 is pointless at this moment
ok, thanks for your quick reply.
I don't need the groove then after install rebug 4.46REX?
and refer you rogero or multiman and which version?
REBUG 4.46 REX is very advance CFW ifu eant alot of option and tweaks use it if don't download ROGERO 4.46 and install multiman 4.46
As long as you are at or below OFW3.55 you can safely install CFW...
So as to a very quick and dirty HOWTO...
1) Download a CFW3.55 of your choice (Kemaw, ReBug or Rogero). Since I have more experience having used Rogero 3.55 v3.7 I'd recommend using that. But I take it any CFW3.55 will work! Depending on what you use, or where you got it from you might have to rename the File to "PS3UPDAT.PUP". Now you just have to place that File on to a USB Stick @ x:\PS3\UPDATE\<File goes HERE>
2) Insert your USB Stick into the PS3. Now you have Two ways to do this. One by installing over the XMB by going to
"Settings"-> "Update Settings"-> "Update Via USB Storage Media"... and follow the On-screen Instructions...
Or, by pressing the Power Button on the PS3 and holding it for ca~ Five Seconds (BEEP), continuing holding it till the PS3 shuts off
Pressing the Power Button again and holding it for ca~ Five Seconds (BEEP) [Reset Resolution Output], then (BEEP BEEP), entering Safe Mode. Note you'll be invited to connect your Paddle via USB to continue.
Option '6' "System Update"
3) Now that you have a CFW3.55 running you can easily tell this by the addition of:
★ Install Package Files
To your "Game" Menu
4) Now its time to install your very first Package File...
Go to Codename: REBUG and in Firefox press "F3", or in IE, and Firefox press "CTRL-F" and search for "Toggle QA" Till you find the Download Link for it. (It will be near the bottom of the Page!)
Place the File on the root of your USB Stick (i.e. x:\<HERE>) and insert the Stick back inside your PS3. Scroll over to "Game" and down to
★ Install Package Files which should then find any, and all *.pkg Files you have. Assuming that "Toggle QA" for now is the only *.PKG File you have just press "X" to install it.
IIRC the PS3 should "BEEP" Thee times and reboot itself. If not then recheck your steps again.
Assuming that it did work, you can then test this out by going to:
"Settings" and scrolling all the way down till you hit "Network Settings" NOTE: you just have to rest on this, and not to press "X" to enter it!
Then c-c-COMBO "L1+L2+L3 + R1+R2 + D-Pad Down" should open up Three new options underneath "Network Settings" these would be the "Edy Viewer", the "★ Debug Settings" and "★ Install Packages"
You do not need to do anything here just take it as conformation that you are now QA Flagged!
5) Now you can install the most current 4.46 CFW you'd like. As to which One is the best? Lets just say that everybody has there favorites. But if you want the most comprehensive CFW out there. Then Rebug 4.46REX is likely the CFW for you!
Again you can install this in the same way as you did back in Step Two...
As for your "Dongle" you can put it away now, its basically useless now. SAVE FOR ONE INSTANCE where should you need to replace your Blueray Dive with a new One (e.g. The old One died), the you'll have to downgrade back to 3.55 and use the Dongle to re-marry the New Drive to your PS3. But, other then that. Its about as useful as a Chocolate Teapot...
I followed your steps and all is succesfull installed but by step 5 I can not install Rebug 4.46REX .
Do I need a rogero or multiman and which one?
Sorry guys I'm a genuine amateur. I've had my ps3 jailbroken at 3.41 for years and I'm getting a black screen when I load a new game. Should I be upgrading to 3.55? It says above you'll know you're upgraded if ★ /app_home/PS3_Game/ and ★ Install Package Files are added To your "Game" Menu, but I've already got these? What is QA flagged? Can I skip straight to step 5?
Thanks for your help!
Did you remember to rename the File to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" and have it placed in usb:/PS3/UPDATE/<PS3UPDAT.PUP> ?!

Which CFW3.55 did you use? In the case of Rogero there are Two versions.
The 3.55 Downgrader (which you didn't need!) It changes the syscon on your PS3 to xFW9.99 thus making all updates save for 3.55 invalid.
Then there was the Rogero 3.55 v3.7 Firmware that you should've used from the start. Assuming that this (or something along these lines) the mistake you made. Then all you have to do is to dehash your PS3 with a proper 3.55CFW. So your syscon then reports 3.55 again.
Skipping QA Flag is not recommended! as its function is to prevent the Flash ROM from getting corrupted. (e.g. The RSoD). It's a tiny Program that is otherwise invisible.
As far as not being able to play Games. (Black Screen)...
1) What Firmware are you still in?
2) Were those Games signed with 3.55?
Assuming that your trying to play games from your Stick/Dongle Era? 3.55. My guess is you'll have to resign or re-rip those Games again for use on your current Firmware.
I'm now trying to do this just in case, but I'm having some trouble... all I see below network settings is debug settings, I can't see edy viewer or the other menu item (can't remember what it's meant to be). Any idea why this would be? Does it mean the QA flag hasn't worked?

If it didn't "pop-in" then make sure you doing the c-C-COMBO right (Its kinda tricky to hold everything down + hitting the D-Pad Down at the same time!)
When you ran the Package did your PS3 "BEEP" Three times, and reboot? If it did, it means that it should've installed ok. If not then you might have to try and re-runing that Package File again. Till it does!
As for being able (or not), to install ReBug 4.46REX. Could you walkthough everything up to where it went wrong for you? I suspect that you might have accidentally installed a downgrader that mussed your syscon up. Perfectly normal IF YOU WERE DOWNGRADING! However, since you were on 3.41 at the time you only needed to ~update~ to 3.55.
As these programs both work the same way, and they both install the CFW3.55 onto your PS3. You might not understand that difference. It took me a few attempts to update my 21xx (Slim) too before it sank in. The difference was that I had to use the "Downgrader" 3.55.
