two questions regarding this ps3 jailbreak –

For those in the know, and just out of curiosity...
1. When - at what date - was that the vulnerability first discovered?
2. What prompted the release of the hack at that particular time - which was the end of August?
3. Is anyone working on a no-bluray reader solution?
4. Is anyone working on a porting the hack to the TI-89 platinum?

You should be in the know yourself by now, you been lurking here on the forums for 8 years now! -- But for the fun of it, I answer your questions!
1. When - at what date - was that the vulnerability first discovered?
That is a good question, noone knows that answer, people claim Geohot made it happen, but personally I doubt just because of his dumping of the shit on a very early firmware, had a hand in this, as it was mostly linux startup dumps, very little could be gotten earlier in the boot-up cycle, and even less in the GameOS.
2. What prompted the release of the hack at that particular time - which was the end of August?
As for release of the hack on Aug. 18th, it has no reason behind it. -- It was just the date that official resellers got a working sample that had previously been only internally tested in the mail by DHL, and once the Youtube video was made, and news posted on here, it spread like wildfire across the 'net.
3. Is anyone working on a no-bluray reader solution?
The original PSJailbreak team, claim in rumors on various forums that the new v1.1 of the backup manager to be released on Sept. 15th will have this feature plus many more. -- But it will also be protected not to work on any of the PSGroove or PSFreedom, and the dozens of sample/copy chinese clones.
Plus also the original PSGroove authors, have already stated they are done, it works, they are not going to look at making any improvements to support new versions of the "backup manager" since the original never was going to support it in the first place.
4. Is anyone working on a porting the hack to the TI-89 platinum?
Best to ask the original authors of the TI-84 port, but he has already stated he is too busy with other projects.

Thanks for answering that.Ive been also wanting to know this because my ps3's laser is shot.So it looks like i have to either shell out money for a new drive, or an official jailbreak.
Since i have already built my own psgroopic I will most likely get a new drive.
