Turn Off System Menu Hangs when exploit wasn't executed
Turn Off System Menu Hangs when exploit wasn't executed –

I have a PS3 Slim 120GB on 3.41 (obviously), and am using the latest PS3JB patched for use with the backup manager (TI84+ method). Everything works flawlessly when I run the exploit, but something really odd and annoying happens when I haven't run the exploit. When I am done watching a movie or something on my PS3 and go select "Turn Off System", normally it asks for confirmation and gives me a Yes/No dialog and then turns off the system if I select yes. This dialog comes up and functions properly when I run the exploit, but if it is a boot that I haven't run the exploit on then the dialog never comes up, and I have to walk over to the PS3 and press the power button.
When you guys don't run the exploit (or if you have a dongle, unplug it and test this) does this happen for you?

without running the exploit the console shuts down the usual way when I select the option you were talking about.

No. And I also use the TI-84 method.
Have only had the xmb not boot fully from startup trying to jailbreak and had to hard reset. No problems when not using it.
I am on a Backwards compatible ps3, though. Not the slim.

Hm, I'm wondering if I should reflash to 3.41 and then re-jailbreak. Can you "update" to the same firmware you're on (using the USB update method obviously)
Also can anyone with a slim PS3 confirm that their turn off system menu works?

I think you can reinstall the same fw you have already installed in the recovery menu.

Just in case someone else has the same issue...
1) I downloaded the 3.41 firmware and put it on a USB stick, went into PS3 safe mode and "updated". Problem still occurred.
2) I formatted the PS3 HDD (quick format, full takes way too long) - problem still occurred
3) Went back into safe mode, restored PS3 to default settings, problem solved.
4) Re-jailbroke PS3 with TI84+ PS3JB program, installed backup manager + ftp server, rebooted, problem solved.
