Time for a Change –
Ok, been running 3.41 with Hermes 4b and an AVR Minimus since (well... a long time)
Decided to dip my toe in getting something a bit more up to date as I`m pretty much all played out on PES and GT5 so...........
I would like to get opinions on what folk think I should move..... doing the whole AVR, Hermes etc above I would give a difficulty rating of 6/10 (just to let you my capabilities) and GT5 using CUTE FTP etc about a 8/10
no flaming please, reads loads but so many options its all a tad confusing on what to go with
Really appreciate any help
thanks Chesh, if you had to give it a difficulty rating based on how I found the other stuff to do, how would you rate it
Assuming you can copy files to a USB thumbdrive and follow instructions, 2/10. BTW: any games you've modified to work on 3.41 (GT5, CODBO, Homefront, etc) will need their original files back in order to work on 3.55. So, if you don't actually have the GT5 game disk, you'll have to FTP over the files much like you did the patch.
thanks again, I`m sure GT5 is the only one I had to do anything to tho (permission fix ?)
might try it tonight but the footies on in a minute
You'll need the stock eboot and param

jumped in, so far so good, just installing cfw, seems very easy so far
That's all the harder it gets. Other then installing packages, which is all done w/ USB also. If you don't plan on storing anything on your internal HDD, then you'll never really have to worry about FTPing anything (unless you'd like to just do the shortcut of not having to plug your external into a computer). Other then that, you can now play large file games from external HDD's using Iris Manager. Just backup a game w/ large files and it will split it like it normally does. Load the game in Iris Manager and it will ask you if you want to use the internal cache to load the game. Say yes and the game will load. Pretty simple.
right, no word of a lie that was easy !!! thanks all
