Is there a way to delete game data when playing an installed to internal drive backup? –
just like the title says, i would like to know if there is a way to get rid of the game data that is not needed because the backup is already installed on the hard drive.
or is there perhaps a dummy method where u can make the ps3 think that the game data is intalled?
i might have overlooked something or just skipped an already present feature. i am also using the latest version of MultiMan
You can delete game data at any time. Just highlight it and press the tri button and choose delete. However gamedata contains patches and updates to the game software so that it runs at the optimum level so unless you have a problem with the game data I would leave it until you finish the game. Even if you copy the game to internal it does not contain all the update 'Game Data'

The latest iteration comes with a .pkg called gamedata.pkg or something that will change the install location of the game data from internal to external. So I would delete the game data. use the pkg and then reinstall the data on external. This is just moving where the game data is installed not getting rid of it. If you do not have an external drive with sufficient space this may not work for you.
The last option is to play without game data. I don't suggest this as I said before because patches and updates will not be included. Also SOME GAMES REQUIRE GAME DATA TO PLAY like MGS4. First delete the game data. Then load the game. If it prompts you to install and update hit circle and the game should load. Done you are playing without needing to install. If you are playing a game like MGS4 that requires game data you are out of luck. Install it, play the game and then delete the game data.
