I have a 3.41 PS3, a palm pre cell phone, but no linux to hack the phone
Is there a tutorial anywhere to show how to hack the palm pre with Windows 7 (via virtual pc or something like that)?

    Thanks in advance

Believe you're in the wrong place. Pop over to precentral.net and/or webos-internals.org for info on cracking open the Pre just get PreWare installed.

The only thing I needed to get this to work was install a terminal app onto the Pre with WebOSQuickInstall. I loaded a precompiled psfreemdom.ko to the root of the storage drive and did insmod /media/internal/psfreedom.ko and it worked perfectly didnt need to push a new kernel or anything to the Pre. Just Google for the above program/apps and you should be good to go its pretty damn easy. I am on 1.4.5 version of WebOS.

Precentral does have most of the information you should need. These guides are slightly outdated, but should get the job done.

    http://www.precentral.net/how-add-ho...hes-and-themes

    http://www.precentral.net/how-to-install-homebrew-apps

That should be all you need to do to install Preware from the Webos Quick Install like Gile suggested. Alternatively, if you just want the terminal for the jailbreak, use the webOS quick install just to install terminal, and you should be good to go. You don't need developer mode activated after its all installed.

Its a little strange, but after you type "insmod /media/internal/psfreedom.ko" in terminal, its usually a success if nothing is said. I've only gotten messages if there was an error. On my phone it just brings up another line sayings "root@palm-webos-device: /var/home/roots"

You should be good to plug the phone into the ps3, (if you have a fat ps3), switch it off in the back, switch it on, than press power quickly followed by eject. If you have a slim model, instead of switching it off in the back unplug it and plug it back in.

    Good luck,

so i did the terminal thing again, and it did the thing you said. No error or anything, just another command line
So unplug the PS3 (I have a slim), connect the phone, plug it in and do the power and eject thing. Takes a little longer to load up (like I've read) but no extra icon in the game column

Is the phone supposed to pop up with the charge/usb drive screen or anything?

EDIT: nvm, i'm an idiot. its working now

    thanks guys
