Is there no way to JB the original 3.5 console?

nope there is no but only way is to downgrade to 3.41

Why don't you downgrade it to 3.41?
Since you have a slim model, you won't loose the BlueRay ability... Once in 3.41 you can jailbreak it easily.
There's no point actually in keeping it 3.50 since Sony fixed the psn dns trick...

I have the same problem. I bought a stock 3.5 firmware PS3 last week. I am unable to downgrade using ANY method I/ have found here. I've followed youtube videos to a tee, tried to go from 3.5 to 3.15 to 3.15 debug etc (as discussed in another thread). Nothing will flash to my PS3 besides the 3.5 firmware. I am using my HTC Evo to trigger service mode, which works fine, but the damn thing just will not take any other firmware except for 3.5. I'm thinking that even though these are 3.5 consoles Yno$ has some how patched the exploit that the downgrader uses. Symptoms are exactly the same as a console that has been upgraded to 3.55, upgrade fails unless the original firmware version is used.

maybe he got those that can't be downgraded, i don't know much about those machines but, i have certainly seen reports of it, i just don't know if they can't downgrade cause the guy is a noob, or because the machine itself doesn't downgrade.
