[Solved] Switch from PS3break to OFW
[Solved] Switch from PS3break to OFW –
I have the following problem here:
I have a PS3 slim, with a PS3break 1.2 dongle. When I boot the PS3 without the dongle activated, the system information says that it runs on 3.41, when I boot with the dongle, it says 3.55.
Now, I tried to update to the OFW (4.11), as I do not need the jailbreaking stuff anymore, but I simply cannot update.
I always get the "The data is corrupted (8002F157)" error, no matter how I try to update the console: via Internet, via USB, via Factory Mode.
The md5sum of the OFW is correct, so the data is not corrupted. I also formatted the hard drive on the PS3, just to make sure, that it wasn't some filesystem error, that was causing that error message, but that didn't help either.
Also, when I try to install the 3.41 OFW it says, that it needs at least 3.56…
Can someone please help me?
edit: problem solved, thanks for the help guys :-)

You currently have a system that has been downgraded from 3.55 to 3.41. In order to update it, you would need to downgrade it further first, at least to 3.40. The reason for this is because in order to downgrade from 3.55, files needed to be changed, and that is why your system thinks it is on 3.56.
Another thing you could do is trade your PS3 for one on OFW. You could probably put a little extra cash in your pocket for giving up the CFW model.
thank you for your answer :-)
you don't happen to know, how/whether it is possible to downgrade to 3.40, without any additional hardware (e.g. E3 Flasher) do you?
All guides I found so far only tell, that you can downgrade to 3.41 only…
selling it is not an option, as the console is not mine, but belongs to a friend, who now primarily wants to use it as a Blu-Ray player.
according to a thread with the title "Can't update from 3.41 to 3.55 Wanikoko's CFW" (can't post links yet^^) another user with the same problem as me apparently was able to fix it by using "lv2" and 3.21 OFW.
I probably will find the 3.21 OFW file somewhere (although if you have a link it would be great), but I don't know anything about the "lv2" files he is mentioning.
Do you know what he means? Can you please help me out here?

Very true about the extra cash with a CFW console.
