Swapped HD, restored, got rebuilding database message, data lost.
I sent off my PS3 to get downgraded, and backed up my data beforehand. When I got it back, I restored the data and my game data and play TV recordings were back. I planned on using ReactPSN to reactivate my PSN games, but before I did that I swapped the PS3 HD out for a 500GB one. I copied the backup data to my PC, took the 500GB drive out of my USB drive, and stuck it in the PS3. I then put the original 250GB from the PS3 in the USB caddy, and copied the backup dir from my PC to that one.
However, when I try restoring my PS3 - with the 500GB installed - it gives me a message that says 'rebuilding database' - I haven't tried cancelling this, but I restored twice and got the same thing. I can play games, but my Play TV recordings and game data have been lost, as have all my PSN games. The PS3 itself works fine, and I don't get the database message after rebooting, but the data's still gone.
My questions are -
1 - What's going on, and can I fix this? I don't so much mind missing the Play TV recordings but I'd like to get my PSN content back. Which leads me onto..
2 - If I do get this sorted, can I use the act.dat I copied before restoring to resign my existing PSN games - Hitman Trilogy, Siren, I Am Alive, etc, without having to re download them?
