swap jb-ps3 hdd question

i got the wd-scorpio laptop hdd, it's massive. before taking my console apart to jammed that in, i wants to know if it will work for me?
and i don't mean the hdd, i am worry the ps3 might not operate with a unformat drive.

spec:
ps3 jb 3.55 kmeaw 40GB HDD, wants to install
wd-scorpio hdd NTFS format

Your ps3 will ask you to format. It will format the drive fat32. If you have a 16mb nor ps3, it will also ask you to re-install the current firmware. If hd came from a laptop, it should fit perfectly.

i did it, and the console didn't give me problem.

the scorpio blue didnt fit my laptop, it didnt' fit most of my machine due to it's size.
i had to cut and bend the ps3 grill then push the drive in.
