super slow ftp transfer speeds black ftp
super slow ftp transfer speeds black ftp –
01-22-2011,11:13 AM
I am currently running kweams 3.55 cfm with latest gaia manager which is working great for all of my back ups. However, I am having trouble with slow ftp speeds to my harddrive from the laptop to ps3. I am using black box ftp on the ps3 and I am using smart ftp on the laptop. I recently changed the internal harddrive in the ps3 to a wd scorpion blue 500gb but I am not sure if this is what is contributing to the slow speeds. I am doing all of this on my wireless n network with my lynksys router. If anyone could offer some advice it would be much appreciated. Is there a wire I could purchase to attach to my laptop ethernet port to the ps3 ethernet port and transfer that way? I appologize for the mispellings I am typing this on my phone, I am educated lol. Thanks in advance.

That's your problem. Use a cable.
Brick happens.

It's the scorpio drive.
If I remember right, they're simply not properly compatible with the PS3, and cause all sorts of problems.

what kind of cable? –

Which cable would you reccomend and how would I hook it up directly to the ps3 and laptop without hooking anything into the router? Also I have read scorpion drives having some issues but I haven't had any problems with any of the games. Thanks for your input btw.

I'm running a 750GB Scorpio Blue in mine without issue. The 1TB model isn't compatible with the PS3 because it won't fit in the bay physically. (You can only fit a 9.5mm drive in the PS3, 1TB 9.5mm drives are just hitting the market now.)
Definitely use ethernet rather than wireless for FTP. If your computer has a gigabit NIC, you'll want to use a Cat5e or Cat6 cable, regular Cat5 can cause issues at gigabit speeds.

Why are you making rediculous comments like that if you can't back it up? I have been using a Scorpio 500gb for months and not once did I have a problem. I read the reviews for the drive on the site that I bought it from and 75% of the people who purchased one, are using it in their PS3 and have had zero problems.

I never stated that all scorpio drives don't work. I said the problem with his configuration was the scorpio drive.
