I'm new to the jailbreaking scene and unfortunately I've found myself quite lost as there doesn't seem to be a definitive guide for not only jailbreaking your ps3, but also which packages are required to install etc.
What I was hoping someone could do is tell me after doing all that is required here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/cfw...ll-pack-77294/ (CFW kmeaw + OFW 3.55 + GAIA 2.05 ready to install pack)
what other packages should I download to be able to run the most up to date games? Also, I find that some games that I boot up ask if I'd like to change the param.sfo, should I, if it requires changing Param.sfo etc, how do I go about doing this?
For Eboots, do I just download and replace the originals in the game or do I have to do it through the ps3? If through the ps3, how?
Like I said, the first set of instructions are great, but they seem to be only the beginning and kind of leave amateurs like myself in the dark on a lot of other questions. If anyone could please help me, it would be greatly appreciated!
the general idea is to not overwhelm you with information. gaia is great but multiman is currently the premiere bm with the most features. fyi mm requires bdemu.pkg to function fully. check mm thread for further details. theres also a whole thread on modded eboots if you need them. youll need to replace eboots through a file manager or ftp (preference).
come to think of it, dean just released some work on eboot fixing. you should check that out too. http://psx-scene.com/forums/787919-post135.html (Tomb Raider Trilogy working PKG [1st post]) i know theres a lot of info out there, but trust me this stuff becomes second nature. the search function is quite helpful here, and spending some time reading threads of homebrew youre interested in can answer most of your questions. taking information in small bites doesnt hurt either . good luck in your endeavor.

When a game is asking you to change the param, it is because it is made for OFW 3.56, and you are on CFW 3.55 now. You can let the backup manager do it for you, or you can do it manually with PS3SFOedit, or any hex editor. (Look at the bottom of the list in my sig for this.)
When you have to to this, then you will need an eboot as well. Some you can find, some you have to make. Best to learn to make your own here: EBOOT.bin repository
