OK, so I have an 8gb usb flash drive to copy games with. I want to copy a game over from my computer, but its about 10gb. I've tried FTP and I'm having connection issues/it's slow. Is there anyway for me to split the game and copy it onto the disk?

and how exactly should I go about that? I mean, if I copy over as much as I can it will just copy most of the games files, but then how do I copy the rest? Theres no way for me to know which files to include or not to include. Also wouldn't the backup manager make several incomplete instances of the game?
If you could explain to me in detail, I would be really grateful. I'm really stuck here, and FTP still doesn't want to work correctly. I can connect and navigate through the PS3 but I can't delete/add files to the hard drive. If you know anything about this, help would be appreciate.
What FTP server and client you use ?
What connection type you have between PS3 and PC ?
I've tried gftp, filezilla, and cuteftp. the errors I'm getting are as follows:
553 permission error
Could not download {filename and path here} from local filesystem
my computer and my ps3 are on my wifi network.
EDIT: nevermind... anyone using linux (and maybe OSX) chmod 777 the source folder. If you dont know how to do that, go back to using windows! and If your using a Mac Google is your friend.
Also if anyone knows how to split ps3 games I'd still love to know how, thanks for your help.
You will get an error when trying to copy over large files (like 4 Gig) when using the ftp programs.
Therefore download hjsplit and split the large files (files that ar over 4Gig) then transfer .
Remembering to delete the large file after you have split it.
Everything will work then
enjoy....
Im having trouble with getting MGS 4 to work on my external hdd. Do I need to split with with hjsplit for this to work??? Help!!! (thanks in advance guys)
Games with large files (MGS4, FFXIII, etc.) can't be played from a FAT32 HDD due to the size restrictions. And programs like hjsplit and ps3splitter can't be played like that, that's only to transfer them. BGM's merge them back together when copied to the internal HDD.
Might try a NTFS HDD, but i believe thats just to copy games easier as well, not play from external...
GH
Bump . . . so split with something like PS3SPLITTER, copy them to the internal than merge them with what?
