Soul Calibur 4 infinite loading

Right, I've been playing this on my rig for a while (40GB fat, kmeaw 3.55, Gm 2.07, broken blu-ray) and today it's decided it's gonna stop working in a perculiar fashion, it will load fine up to the now loading part where it will just loop itself over and over, i can bring up the xmb menu fine; however, if i press any other button, the now loading bit vanishes and i can no longer bring up the xmb and the console resets itself. Since i haven't made any changes to the files what could be the problem since the last time it worked? I'm still running it externally and have done so since the beginning.

I have never had this happen w/ a ps3 game, but it sounds like a file(s) got corrupted. Try re-ripping the game if you haven't already. Your external hdd might have something wrong with it, unless other games function properly. Check for this if you haven't also.

Ally my other games running from the external are working fine so i don't think it's a problem with the external, i tried putting it on the internal to see if that made a difference (it didn't) is there a way to check which file(s) may have been corrupted, i think i put it through Gaia's check thing and nothing was found; if there isn't a way to do this then i guess re-ripping is the only option, thanks for replying!

Yeah I'm not aware of any more file checkers than what's offered w/ the BM's. I hope re-ripping resolves the issue, or else I'm at a loss as to what your problem might be... wait. Have you been playing this game with or without a disk in your drive? Oh and have you tried deleting and reinstalling game data. Have you changed BM's recently or updated from 3.41 to 3.55?

Yes, i've been playing it without a disc but that's how i've always played it
I think i have done, no game data shows up in the xmb bit and i couldn't find any using comgenie's file manager, but i may have missed where it's installed to.
No, i haven't updated recently i've been on 3.55 for a while now

Game data would show up in xmb if it was there. Some games don't require it hence why you can't find it. I doubt it's a problem w/ save data. Hopefully that re-rip will suffice.

okay ta, it's just strange; wonder if it'll happen again, i could understand if it wasn't working to begin with

He said that he has a broken blu-ray. I don't think he can re-rip

re-ripped and it works a charm, i'm just gonna accept that a file corrupted then. Thanks for the speedy replies and helpful suggestions.
