Actually, sony makes money from the games and not the consoles.

Hell, I'm pretty sure they actually sold the consoles at a loss for quite a long time.

I keep getting this feeling that Sony is tricking us.

First, Sony definatly learned from experience, the moment the PS2 got cracked, the sales of PS2 went way up. Sure, less games get sold, but Sony doesn't make profit from the games, but from selling the PS3.

Sony is tricking on us. They knew hackers would hack their system when they removed Linux, and did that on purpose, then they rigged their random number generator to make it easy for hackers to get their keys, knowing it would cause bricks. They've flushed them out, and now are ready to put out even more security, where you will have to get a pat-down by TSA agents before playing any games on the console, and before going online, you will submit to a full body scan using the EyeToy, which sends pictures of your naked body back to Sony headquarters where it is integrated into hentai child **** that provides entertainment for the Bilderburgers that run all of the Japanese corporations in their ultimate goal of creating a dystopia for the common man where there is no longer an opportunity to make an honest dollar, because we will all be enslaved and under their corporate heel.Follow the money. That probably has to do with earlier release, a cheaper price tag, the fact its easier to develop for and the amount of games available during the early stages of the consoles lifespan in comparison to the PS3. It gained the larger install base due to that.
You are comparing both sonsoles with a single thing the share in common (they are now easy to pirate) and omitting all the other aspects that made the Xbox successful and the PS3 have a slow start.

Also, It took them way too long for them to develop this update, they could have done it like 1 week after the first CFW, why did they wait this long?

Friend i own both consoles just to inform you on the xbox cracked/hacked side

there a two types of hacks for the xbox as you know DVD Drive Hack That can be preformed on any console to play back up games but that console is always flagged and when the next ban wave comes it will be banned from accessing xbox live

the jtag hack can only be preformed on any console with dashboard version 2.0.7371.0 or below we are now in 2.0.12625.0 and there is no method of downgrading right ? and the other day 2,5 anit piracy update stops backed up call of duty/ reach games working online so those waiting for the next ban wave their favourite games stopped working

so xbox does have a alot of games because having a modified xbox = offline 4 ever one way or the other developers have nothing to worry about. not like the ps3 we are trying to do the opposite and push our backed up games online

i do understand and agree with you on everything else thought. sony is making alot of money selling hardware

Guys, this is not about money for Sony, this is about image.

Sony will spend as much money as possible to slow/stop the scene.
This is under the same reasoning that we chase bank robbers.

It is almost always more expensive to chase and catch bank robbers then the amount of money stolen. But the problem is that if one bank robber gets away and we don't seem to care, it endangers the entire socio-economic system.

Sony will chase everyone until the end, they will never stop, all we can do is sludge forward and enjoy the ride.

Game manufactures loose confidence in a console that has poor security. Sony must appear to be working against piracy other they will be in violation of the the TOS agreements between them and the game developers.

As long as the PS3 has new games being released they will attempt to stop the hacking scene.
