So i turned my PS3 on today and had a disconnection from PSN as expected and then i felt like playing some Need For Speed: Shift.
Upon trying to skip the 1.03 game update the screen would just flash at me 3 times in a row.
So i do the 230mb 1.03 game update and then check param.sfo as the game black screened.
I log into FTP and check the files and well this picture explains the new contents of the game data on HDD from the PS3.

Looks like they have changed the way other things work while things were offline!!!
Am i right that it shouldnt look like this???

So i was in FTP before and all was fine, could see the files inside USRDIR and now they all install as these files.
When trying to skip the game update, the current screen saying game update required will just flash at you.
Then i did the update and all the files became well "files"

'flash at you' meaning you cannot continue playing the game or flashes then goes away?
i started deadrising2 and it also prompted update but i said no...then played without issue
maybe some games need to be played with internet off now

I saw it coming, they were tweaking something on the PSN.
It was obvious that all this update stuff would stop one day.

I urge you to FTP and check files.
Then do a game update and FTP back into files!!!
See if you have the same result
Update 1.03 NFS:S did this to mine.....
I don't think it's a random thing that's happened to my update.....
