Hi new here.i have an xbox360 shes gorgeous, but also wanted a ps3,but as a secondary console wasnt too keen on paying over 200 for it,so i love fixing things so i have bought a
40gb ps3 with faulty blu ray
i have contacted the seller.hes replaced the laser and the ribbon, but the drives not spinning, its got power but isnt reacting if u know what i mean
basically he thinks its the logic board.
now fellow people,id like to know
can i change the board with minimal fuss? and how etc
the seller said something about replacing a nand chip..soldering etc skills needed
he told me this after i bought it regarding the nand chip lol.
anyway id like to repair her and use her.so appreciate any help here.
thanks in advance

There is no way to pair a new logic board (to my knowledge) without PS3 service mode, which is something that's being worked on, but isn't available yet. So, as for as nand soldering goes, I think this guy is bs'in you.

The blu-ray laser is likely kaput...... oops read wrong, get a replacement Logic Board (on the drive unit) and replace a chip over from that (you will need skills and more info, it can be done with a heatgun but carefully).
If you have no skills in repairing technical stuff then I expect you to break her... or whatever it is
PS. Maybe his replacement laser was stuff, does happen.

that all sounds like a lot of hassle! whats the deal with the jailbreaking, home brew or whatever it is.40gb is more than enough to wack a couple of games on and use it as a media player in our room.my xbox 360 takes the lounge so i could use the ps3 as media player in the bedroom.
if anyone can point me in the direction of how to do the jailbreaking?
downloaded games onto hdd etc.it be appreciated
the laser...how difficult to replace?
