I also have slim 160gb with 3.42 preloaded.. i suceesfully downgraded to 3.41 but i cant downgrade to 2.10 or 3.15...when i try the green les blinks and never ever stops ?
And another problem after downgrade to 3.41 mine only works correctly with herms4b with 3.50 spoof payload..other payloads below it not working flawlesly the usb stops to respond and in games it goes to black..?
May be this downgrade is good for only who upgraded from 3.41 to 3.42 or 3.50 Not preinstaled 3.42 or 3.50 am i correct ?
Hello, cech-2504a here, 160GB no bundle EUR. I guess I had 3.50 presintalled as I tried do downgrade mod3.41 but got green led endlessly blinking while black-screen flashing: I left it for about an hour then tried with 2 more USB keys I have (namely, Kingston 2GB and 8GB and Philips 16GB) but no luck.
I say "I guess" cause I swapped to a 320GB HD I had, put the 160GB HD in a USB box and formatted it but was forced by the PS3 system to restore stock 3.50 first thing when I turned PS3 on for the very first time. Now I don't even bother restoring stock3.50 before anything new comes out (I see scene's moving pretty fast, lately) and I have a brand new PS3 Slim sitting half-dead.
Thanks p78ch201 for idea what might be wrong with mine...
Actually the story is similar, but interesting.
I've bought 2 PS3 320 GB with production date code 0D (Europe; which means I am risking to get 3.55 as in story I could not turn it on to see the FW).
I bring them home and found both are 3.50 which is good.
Then I turn first one, enter service mode, put the USB with 3.41 modified and ... fail. Same as in your case. What is wrong I was desperate how to unbrick the PS3 as I could not google the info how to get out of "damaged 3.50" FW. Until I found your post. Thanks for that! Here it worked with USB \PS3\UPDATE and I make the PS3 alive again.
But the problem remains - it would not downgrade. Then I try second USB flash, third USB flash memory and no luck. Same error at about 18th second again and again.
So I thought these cannot downgrade.
Then I took second PS3, do the same process and it dowgrades in first try!
Now, my question is having on mind I bought them in same store, at the same time, probably they order them from same manufacturer at the same time and most likely they are manufactured at almost the same time - WHAT the hell is difference? Why one downgrade, and second one not?
Should I give a try with new USB memory which I will buy first thing at the morning?
Thanks for any ideas!
