So where are we at? –
07-20-2011,09:35 PM
back when portal 2 was leaked people kept saying the fix will be out before the game would be released, i got portal 2 there was no fix.
operation flashpoint came about..it will be a matter of weeks
then it patchs for games started coming for games, and people said that all games will eventualy get a patch...they didnt (and patches stoped)
i updated my ps3 and played my games i was called a fool, a new quality assurence method was being worked on and would allow us to play all our games again
it seemed plausable
it seemed to make sense
so once we got the method to QA i hunted down an exploitable ps3
QA has done nothing for playing 3.60 games
I now have 2 ps3s i cant justify having 2 so my question is this
where are we at being able to play legit owned 3.60 games using the retail discs? is there anything that shows any signs of progress?
I have seen the dual firmware thing but i cant solder (though it is a hope, the latest in a long line of dashed hopes)

having multiple ps3s is a good thing... i have 4! one i play games on, one with cfw, one in my living room for netflix/bluray/etc, and a 4th is a pristine condition 60gb with v2.80 firmware sitting in my closet. all can potentially play blurays and they all sit in different rooms... was smarter to get ps3s versus standalone bluray players....

If you can't justify having 2 of them, then how did you end up with 2 of them? If you're planing on selling one of them you probably wont get close to what you spent on it, so maybe you could try saving a few extra bucks some other way and be able to have the best of both worlds CFW and OFW+online.

ITT: People who don't understand the things they are dealing with.
Why would you purchase a PS3 on the word of some kid who says 3.60+ games are possible? Do some reading, and learn some shit - then you will understand WHY you can and can not play certain games.

I didnt trust the word of some kid I trusted the word of may people, it was a consensus that once qa flag was found all games would be playable so when it was discovered I started looking as look would have it I found a deplorable ps3 very quickly, rather then risk it being sold I figured bye now and wait the 3.60 qa flag method, as I wait qa flagging got easier and easier but so far shows no sign of 3.60 im starting to believe 3.60cafe or method never going to happen so I read and I read BUT the forums are not easy to get info from so I asked.a direct question please ignore the odd wierd auto correct plus wierd phone doing me moving cursor lol

Unfortunately, someone should have advised you that a while back that the only reason why some new games were able to be patched or compatible to play with an older firmware, was because either the developers released a game update made compatible with an older firmware (which it was mistake on their behalf) or the new game was actually done with an older SDK (which was a mistake on their behalf).
As Sony goes up further with their firmware versions, we may not see games that will be compatible with CFW because they will start using newer SDKs. This is why it will be important for future hackers to figure out a new game plan and figure out the new SDKs. Perhaps we should donate them a new 3.66 PS3, so they can go on testing? Think about it, they would need a 3.66 PS3 to be able to learn how to exploit it. Unless there is another way, if there is.. what are you guys waiting for!?? GOW Origins will be released in September!! Don't let me down!! lol
PS3: Slim 320GB / CFW KMEAW 3.55 / multiMAN v04.xx.xx / blackb0x FTP Server v1.2 3.55 w/ FlashFXP 4.2.x
PS2: SLIM & PHAT / FreeMcBOOT w/ESR & OPL 9-r651 / SMS w/PSClient v1.3.1
PSP: PHAT / 5.00 M33-6

well i just read the article on the main news about a new firmware in dev (3.41? seems a bit old) but it states "return of online" so im guessing it must trick 3.60 somehow and the progskeet thing which will make developers lifes easy
im on rebug 3.55.2 so im out of luck on any 3.41 firmware (the console came with 3.55) but its looking a little less dead then i thought it was, time to get some extra shifts to cover bills and keep the two ps3s for another couple of months just incase this is actualy progress (we all been here before)
As for donating to developers, i dontated to geohotz a while back and he vanished from the scene, some one brings us the ability to play retail games on our ps3 and retain the jailbreak functions that let us truely own our hardware and i will donate to them (within my limited funds it would amount to anought to buy them a beer lol but its the thought that counts)
