Slim upgrading and downgrading
Slim upgrading and downgrading –

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a PS3 slim console, mainly for GT5 as I have a Xbox as well.
The PS3 slim came with fw 3.15 installed. Ive got a PS3key on the way, although I dont know what way to do in regards to upgrading and downgrading.
If I upgrade to fw 3.50 to play GT5, do the current downgrading procedures work on my model without too many issues?

downgrading to or upgrading to 3.50 it wont help you to play GT5

Hmm i think if you upgrade to 3.50 you can use GT5 ...
but then if you want to use JB again you gonna need to downgrade to 3.41
then on 3.41 you can't play GT5, it's a choice at least for now...

Thanks, thats what I was referring to.
Upgrade to 3.50 to play GT5, and then downgrade to 3.41 to JB when needed?

yes I have done it twice to play gran turismo five as long as you do it right you have nothing to worry about and you need the original disc by the way

Is it better to use a slim or fat PS3 for jailbreaking?

Doesn't matter. Both slim and Fat have the exact same method and the same code for jailbreaking.
So really the only difference is, the slim you have to unplug and replug to reset it. While the fat has a built in Power switch like a PC based power supply does. So the only difference is a slight convenience issue.

i'd say go for Slim online & Fat for jailbreak
but that's just my opinion, because if your FAT dies, you still can play online
with a slim

A slim will survive the downgrade process without problems. A large nand fat will get a corrupted flash checksum which causes the inability to play blu rays and other unforseen problems.
Either get a slim or make sure you get a fat that hasnt been tampered with that has model number CECHI or higher.
