slim ps3 on 3.55 advice

Hi all
I have finally got a slim ps3 on 3.55 although it has a faulty hard drive.
I have one to replace it I believe I just need to put the original 3.55 firmware on it then I will be able to jailbreak it?
I would like to ask what the best version of 3.55 cfw is and what other packages would you recommend to use with it

If it already has 3.55 OFW on it then why would you "need to put the original 3.55 on it"?
I may be misunderstanding what you said with that.

Just stick the new drive in and format it. It would be ready to receive the CFW of your choice.

My personal recommendation would be Kmeaw CFW and multiMAN.

I have no experience with bitsbubba's NFW (noob friendly ware) but have seen a lot of good things with it.

Another good backup manager is Rogero.

I haven't updated my Rogero in quite a while, but it is a good manager (and he has recently done some things that is making me want to update (I just haven't had the time to do it)).



Until something absolutely SPECTACULAR comes along and blows kmeaw and multiMAN out of the water..............I will stand behind it wholeheartedly.

If something were to come along that is better than multiMAN, I'm pretty sure that dean would bust his ass to get the better parts implemented into his manager.

The advice I got from ppl that are running a modship/gaming store , remove the harddrive that is faulty or if your changing to a bigger drive , when its installed , you first flash to OFW 3.55 , and then you install CFW on top of that

I am using RazorXs CFW with 3.70 spoof atm and backup manger I am using Multiman , really love the fact that it gets updated and improved upon very often.
And the emulator pack are really nice for Multiman.

Have not tried any other CFW , but sure they work great as well , but when it comes to backup managers , Multiman is my favorit

I have installed a new bigger hard drive and have used the files top post in General Jailbreak Discussion and all went well. If there is anything ells you think may be worth installing please let me know. The Snes emulator is ace and I have black box but that’s it at the moment. I think ill try out a some different managers as I am interested to find out what’s different

Is there a 3.72 spoof I can add to kmeaw cfw?
It would put my mind at ease as my son messed my last ps3 cfw up by updating it and after waiting so long to get another I would hate it to happen again

Hmm I think Rebugg has a 3.72 spoof , never used it myself thou.

Consider maybe to have the ps3 unplugged from the internet?

Then you atleast you do not need to worry it might get updated by accident again , and just plugg it in the few times you do need it.

Thank you I found the 3.72 spoof and have some piece of mind I also think Multiman rocks so I think i'll stick with it.

Glad to see you found the spoof.
My suggestion would have been the same as Dreamwebber.........just keep that sucker disconnected!

I would still advise keeping it disconnected even with the spoof, just as a safety precaution.


Another possibility would be to block the addresses from Sony in your router.
Personally, I do not have mine spoofed and I don't have anything blocked.
I also stay connected to the net.

I also have no friends or kids to accidentally update the PS3 and have no care as to whether or not I get banned from PSN since I have no use for online play anyway.

I will look in to blocking Sony on my router good idea
I keep I the internet on to stream from pc and so does my eldest son. The spoof looks good though I tried to update it but it shows as no new updates available I’ll just have to watch out for updates.
