slim CECH-3001A 3.66 any one?

Hi all,

OK, I've equipped myself some more reading from both psx-scene and ps3hax. I was hoping the PS3 I just got had some FW like 3.55 or lower, but unfortunately after opening the box and turning PS3 on, I found out that my PS3 is on 3.66. It looks like I have the newer SLIM version CECH-3001A which Sony claimed unhackable??? I also read from the sticky that if I am on 3.66, there is no downgrade, no CFW.

As far as I have been reading, for people with >= 3.56, normal procedure is to update to 3.73, then use E3 Flasher or Progskeet os PSJailbreak USB. Unfortunately, my SLIM version is currently not supported by the current E3 Flasher 3K. Not sure about other methods since they do not have the compatible list on the site.

So, for anyone with the similar situation, especially n00b like me, is looking for the same solution, please feel free to jump in, even just to say hello

For others with much more experience and knowledge, especially for new model CECH-3xxx, please give us some advice. Do we have any hope, or it is simply mission-impossible now?

Uhmm, looks like I have not done enough reading. Now somebody is saying that one can not downgrade to a FW lower than the factory one. That means hopeless for me

. Anyone confirm this?

I tried to hack my cousins ps3 and he has the same version, it is currently unhackable but we might actually see 3.73 CFW in the next couple of months if someone can find out how Mathieulh decrypted lv0. Until then you're stuck on OFW or you can trade it for a different ps3.

I've not heard about this. What is your source?

Even if lv0 is decrypted, it means CFW only for 3.55 consoles, or consoles that can be downgraded to 3.55. Sorry to say that if you have a 3000 series or a 2500 that came with 3.60+, you're out of luck.
Metldr.2 revision present in all 3000 models, and 2500 models that came with 3.60+, are unable to boot 3.55.

There is nothing you can do right now. CECH-300X's are 'undowngradeable'.

Not sure if I should trade. It is mainly for my kiddos. I want to jailbreak it just for fun/learning. Maybe its time for an old one on craigslist.

or if you have the reciept return it and go to kmart or some other reatilaer that people hardly shop at and look at the barcode on the box and look for a cech2501a they are all on 3.50 firmware, more info see my other post where someone asked about finding a new unopened exploitable ps3, in another thread today
