The ps3 has played ALL my mkvs so far with ease, now I'm trying to run an mkv whos specs are 1920x1080 but it wont display an image... I was wondering if my cpu is the problem or we're not supposed to be emulating such a high-res? Thanks in advance!!!

I'm running the .mkv through showtime 3, from my internal.

Download MediaInfo, load the file in it, switch to Text view and copy/paste into a post so I can see if it should be supported or not.

I've had a 60/40 in the success rate on a large 1080p mkv like that. I've never had an issue with any 720p mkv--unless the file is corrupt. I hope this helps in some way.

You want the .mkv's info? It's a Criterion Blu-Ray rip but I've noticed it's the only one who's displayed in 1920x1080, all my other films play fine but don't pass 1920x1015 or 1035 something like that. I have a Samsung Smart TV w/3D and it's native IS 1920x1080. I've also noticed that the "buffer bar" in L3 fills up and freezes after 3-4 secs.

Those are pretty bad odds, my friend! I've had a 99% success rate with 1080mkvs, but this particular one just wont give me a picture when played at 1920x1080 (unless I encounter a cpu problem where the film IS displayed but frame by frame) other than that, it's been the ONLY film showtime can't run.

I wouldn't bother but the film has badass cinematography, it's really a MUST-HAVE for my MM collection.

MediaInfo (I linked it in my first post) generates a report of encoder settings etc.
I'll be able to tell you why it doesn't play and how you can check files before attempting to play them given the information it produces.

I'm knocking up a test 1920x1080 file for you that should play, it'll be about 10 mins.

I'll be right back with the news, thank you so much, bro!

Just tested your video and it played/looks FLAWLESSLY. Why could it be that my movie isn't playing? Could I do something to the .mkv to help generate the image or is it my ps3's cpu?
