Run backups OFW 4.31 ps3 fat

Hi i would like to know how can i run backups on my ps3 can just buy a dongle to run backups from the hard drive or do i have to downgrade to 3.55 to do so. I have been doing some searching and all i have found is that i have to buy a flasher to downgrade in order to run backups but there's also dongles that can run backups im a little confuse thanks.

you can't do anything until you downgrade to 3.55 with a flasher and that's only if your model is compatible with a flasher. If your phat is a NOR CHECHH models and up I would get an E3 flasher. If it's a NAND CHECHA-CHECHG you need to get a progskeet but it requires heavy soldering

thanks! i already checked my ps3 is cechk so it can be downgraded to 3.55 and i should use the e3 flasher to downgrade just to be sure do i need to do soldering to install it and can u recommend a good tutorial to follow thank you for your help.

A good place to start reading is here E3 - PS3 Development Wiki . You're going to need to do a ton of reading before you even buy one. Make sure you understand what you're doing. It is solderless but if you don't understand the lingo it can be very confusing. Feel free to ask questions about it if you don't understand. There's more than a few people that are very familiar with it. I've only done it once but will help where I can
