Hi! Iīm new here and Iīve got a serius problem: Iīve got a ps3 slim 250 gb with 3.41 modified firmware from PSJ Team + ps3 break 1.2, I turn on the console with the jailbreak in "psgrade mode" unconsciously but the red box (factory service mode) not appeared, so, i put off the ps3 break and insert my original game "Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" and I tried to start it, the game show me a message "you need to update to 3.42" ok, start, the copy progress of update from BR to HDD0 is at %100 and the console restart, now appears a blue screen "installing update, do not turn of the system bla bla bla" so hereīs the problem: at %0 show me a RSOD and I donīt know what I do wrong :/ please help me, I donīt want to loose my ps3 ,

I tried to enter in recovery menu but doesnīt work :/
    I tried to put a pen-drive with 3.41/2/50/55 but doesnīt work :/

Is there a way to revive my PS3 with jailbreak ? please help me!

    Thanks!

PD: Sorry for my bad english

Sorry to hear about your ps3
Yesterday I had an update go bad after installing a modded acidxml hack to my dev_flash then trying to upgrade back to 3.41 official. First I went to update through recovery mode but it failed and gave me an error to reboot and start the process again, after that failed again I was left with the red screen of death. I tried to enter recovery mode a few times after but got the red screen overtop of it every time. Using my ti84 calculator I put my ps3 into service mode thinking that would solve my problem, the ps3 did enter service mode but I still had the red screen of death pop up overtop. Frustrated I probably rebooted my poor ps3 100 times before I sat down online and started researching. After trying a different zeroed out hard drive and a few other methods I gave up and went back to trying to downgrade.

Anyways to get to the point I did somehow manage to get it to downgrade and got my PS3 working again, but I didn't do the traditional downgrade way, heres what I did:

Note: I found at step 5 if you use the power cycle then power and eject method and avoid entering service mode at all everything works allot better. As explained above I tried many times before this worked. So anyone having troubles just take it slow and one step at a time. Good luck

    1. Connect the downgrade and use the power cycle then power and eject method (like JB mode)
Important: When the PS3 turns off do not turn it back on yet...

    2. With the PS3 OFF Unplug the Jig and go on the computer.
With a fat32 formated flash drive copy the Lv2diag.self (file 1) and the moddified 3.41 pup file to the root of the flash drive, eject it
then put the flash drive in the PS3, same port as the jig was in

    3. With the flash drive in and the ps3 still off use the power cycle then power and eject method again (like JB mode) and wait to see if it hangs and starts reading the flash drive.
(I had to do this a few times, finally I seen the flash drive light up)

    4. If it works no red screen of death will appear (just a black screen) and the downgrade will start. My downgrade took a long time to do (25min about) which is abnormal because normally its takes me 10min. When the ps3 turns off dont turn it on yet!

    5. After the downgrade power the system back up using the jailbreak method again and use the lv2diag.self (file2) to leave to retail mode

I no every situation is different so cannot say for sure if this method will work for you like it worked for me but im glad I shared my experience and hopefully you get your system back.

I have no clue if the same method works with the newer downgrade.. If anyone does try this with the 3.55 downgrade please post your results.

    Goodluck

I also fixed a ps3 with the red screen error by using psgrade. I thought I was crazy but it worked, so I got another one on eBay with the red screen BUT I havn't been able to fix it using psgrade yet. I'm still trying but I don't think I will be able to fix this one for some reason.

In my situation I bought the PS3 almost a year ago that was "broken with no hard drive". Figured PS3 was YLOD and fixable. So I get it, put a hard drive in and it wants to update. "SWEET!" I thought. Updated to 3.15 and it threw the RSoD at me. Like the prick on eBay didn't know it had an RSoD...

Edit: Update: wtf? Tried above got...weird results. It now starts up with the ps3 sound and starts the animation in the background....and then flips immediately to RSoD. Also takes about 2 minutes to get to that point.

Edit2: Tried updating to 3.50 then downgrading...no dice. Weird thing is it gets to about 37% and almost immediately hits 100% when updating to 3.50, like it's a nand write issue. In service mode it doesn't throw RSoD immediately either, only after hearing the sony sound.

What's the oldest firmware I can install?

Whatever version your system came with from factory you can downgrade back to. Slims that came with 3.50 cant be downgraded.
