Rogero questions... Someone please help me!! –
I am in great need of assistance! After spending about a week installing 3.55 kmeaw along with all the emulators I wanted, I come to find out that the darn thing can't play newer games without upgrade, fix, or a dongle. This ps3 is for my brother and I am giving it for christmas, so I don't have much time to lose! I want to know about Rogero vs 3.55 kmeaw.
Can you install package files on Rogero(any version, and if so what version)? Package files as in genesis/snes/nes emulators. Can Rogero play new games from the disk? What is the best version of Rogero? What are the advantages and disadvantages of rogero vs. kmeaw 3.55?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Of course if anyone can help me play new games on my 3.55 kmeaw I would be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance.
Hi there. Some great questions. Firstly, I was also a skeptic going from kmeaw to Rogero, but since Rogero is now 4.3x cfw, I took the leap from the first days of its release. I can now say, as of 4.30 v 2.03, this is probably the best cfw out ATM. It can be installed from the xmb with absolutely no issues or recovery mode needed, and you can even switch hard drives without the new to downgrade. Also, it is very stable, and acts almost as clean as kmeaw. You can install packages, but it's a pkg manager and will reboot your system before being able to install all the pkgs you cue (it's just a feature of it, not sure the reasons behind the reset).

I am confident Rogero will come out with an updated cfw though, as he is very active lately. Also, from what I've read, the new version of MultiMan 4.16.03 is the best yet, has stealth so it cannot be detected by Sony, but I haven't seen this feature work as described on my ps3 after playing a couple of games. Speed improvement wise though, this is a treat. Also, if a game tends not to start, try it with a disc in, without a disc, from usb, with bd mirror, without, or straight from the internal hdd. I dont think you should have too many problems though. For emulators, I'm not sure what is compatible with 4.30 but both my OLD gba and Snes emulators that I haven't updated still work with my ffvi advanced and Chrono trigger, save states included.
A word of advice from me, make sure if you keep Internet on a) don't go on psn store too often, or if at all bc Sony has started banning people, b) don't play online, period and c) MAkE sure your brother does not do a system update! Not sure how old he is, but my 30 year old brother who's console I modded, that's the First thing I told him straight up.
Download the pup file, verify the md5 is correct, download toggle qa, install it, verify it is installed, make a NAND/nor backup in multiman onto a USB, and then update. I followed all steps every time I updated to a T, and I followed directly from Rogero's forum at tortuga-cove. It's all listed on page 1. Sorry I don't have a link ATM, as I'm on my iPhone.
Hope I helped, and merry christmas.
