Is it not possible to rip garbage data from game dumps? In the psp there were padded files, foreign languages/videos, music or just useless files.
Super Street Fighter 4 (I know it currently doesnt work)
on xbox is around 7gb but on ps3 its 15gb! Why
Also dumped modern warfare 2 but when launched, it gives black screen. It is installed on internal drive.
EDIT: one of the modified backup managers was used

i think it is possible to go in to the file tree and delete un needed files, although it may cause crashes if anything tries to access them.
As for the size difference, the ps3 uses all uncompressed audio.
I think that you might delete the updates, but dunno about the contents
This is a subject that will be pretty handy soon i think.
Has anyone tested just rm'ing the update PUP? that's ~260megs per game we could reclaim... that'll add up quickly hehe.
At the end of the day i think we all need to keep reminding ourselves that we are on the ground floor with the psjailbreak, and that these thnigs will come in time.

I just tried with my Naughty Bear Game!
Ripped of UpdatePUPs, and replaced unneeded languages with 1kb Dummy files..
It ended up on 700MB of GameData (1.3gigs original) and works perfectly, as long as you don't select any other languages ;)
// Edit: I just realized that - of course- you can just delete the other languages. You only need Dummy Files for Background Music, cause just deleting those would cause a crash, due to the fact the game can't access the files anymore. But 1kb Dummy Files do their job quite good

There's a great app for ripping PS2 games called Gnie's Xpert tool http://www.alucard.cc/forums/index.p...4;sa=expand#14 . I guess it works for PS3 too . It's not free ,costs 30 USD .
Since there aren't to much isos floating round there (Thanks's God =) ) the easiest way is to backup your game, connect with FTPServer and delete unnecessary files.
I just deleted the PS3_UPDATE folder from all my games via ftp and they all work fine :)
