I could be wrong on this, but I think drives have to be matched to boards as well.

So I just decided to realign the original drive and put it back in. >_< So yeah... I think you may have to get the right drive for the board. There is also a possibility the sensor for detecting when a disc is being inserted might be bad... or the cable for it might be. I advise checking that too.
