    Howdy

Well I upgraded from my 80gig hdd to a 500gb hdd using the official restore function..

After upgrading all my PSN games appeared to be there.

But when I try and launch one of them it says I need to connect to PSN and accept the terms and conditions of the game again.. I cannot connect to PSN if I want to keep my psgroove going...

Ive tried creating a the same folder structure as a Bluray PS3 game and putting it in the backmanager folder, the game tested is Super Street Fighter 2 HD and it appears but after choosing it and returning to XMB it just says unsupported.

    Any ideas?

    Ok

    A little help please?

Ive made a little progress but still enough.

What i have done is pulled the game to my pc, created the folder structure to match a PS3 game, used the PS3 Update.pup file from another game.

I edited the PARAM.sfo with the sfo tool to say it was a disc game not a hdd game.

transfered this back to my PS3.

Loaded the game via backup manager.

now when I goto the Disc I get the SF2HD icon, and the background and the music. I launch the game it exits XMB looks like its working then returns the error
"An Unknown error occurred during the start opperation. (80010009)"

Any ideas please? Im tempted to just update my ps3 to get this working again...

I dont know if you can.

I plan to upgrade my hard disk at some point in the not to distant future, and pkan to play about with it then, to be honest I think its a bit of a scam, when you buy a game its yours and making it unavalble without logging into PSN is a bit $£$%

Has anyne tried cloning the original drive using something like Ghost? I presume its not locked like the original Xbox drives.

I would guess that the PS3 would see the different HDD make / SN etc... and force you to format, but until I get my new drive when I can afford it I dont know.
Make sure you butter the non reflective side of your CD's / DVD's and Blu-Rays so that when you drop them, they land butter side down thus preventing scratches.

ya and the real annoying thing is if you remove the new hard drive and put the original one back in which had the working games in retail, you're gonna need to activate those too. Only way to get by doing that I believe is to do a complete file and folder backup of the hard-drive you plan on removing with either ftp or the comgenie browser, that way you will get the game licenses backed up. Not saying it will work that way, but there is a possibility, or at least in the future if there is a way, you will have the licenses still...
When you do the built in ps3 Backup(Jackup)/restore, it's a complete lie of when it says it is an exact clone , because it doesn't copy your licenses that were activated. You would then go into the /hddo/home/0000number/exdata and replace what's in there on the newly restored drive with the same contents that were in the older drive .. That could possibly work from what some are saying, but unfortunately, I didn't do a manual backup of those files when I performed my update (screwed myself). Good idea to save that folder , I am sure someone will figure out how to keep them back to activated state.

here is a similar thread with the same issues the OT is having

Wouldn't it be pointless if you tried to copy over the files to your PC as the activation data is probably store somewhere else. Also when you restore your machine which is needed when you put in a new hard drive generate different key sets making it impossible for you to play your PSN games as it has the keys from the old Playstation 3 keys before you installed the HDD.

I wasn't able to swap out my PS HDD before the 'big switch off' - now I'm stuck on a 60GB drive if I want to keep my PSN material.

I'm hoping a crack is discovered for PSN content at some point as I do enjoy the odd game of Hustle Kings and Wipeout HD Fury. Though I could secure a copy of wipeout from a disc (I aint paying for it twice!).

I'll probably FTP everything I can over to my PC in the hopes I can restore it some day when more is known about these things.
