Rent-a-Downgrade?

So if you want to downgrade your PS3 it is necessary to buy a ProgSkeet/E3 flasher and then zap your NAND/NOR memory back to state where you can install CFW, correct?

I'm sure there are people who are using these devices to do dual-boots or to yo-yo back and forth between OFW and CFW, but if someone is just wanting to get back to 3.55, he shouldn't need to use these devices more than once. Not unlike the situation with Pandora batteries and the PSP, everyone buys one, uses it once, and then it's just thrown in the back of everyone's closet. So is it possible to rent/borrow a downgrade device? Just wondering if anyone is doing something like this... or if it would even be possible.

Yes unfortunately, if you've upgraded past 3.55 the only method is nand/nor flasher. I don't know of anyone who is selling theirs or borrowing out, but if your looking for someone who will fix it for you, and you live in the states (although that doesnt really matter to me) then I can help. If you have a console with dual nand and the console came to be before the mtldr2 then my setup will work for you. I recieve the console that needs help and i dump the nands. I make 4 master copies of the downgraded/unbricked firmware on cd/dvd. Then I send all items back. I totally understand if your not interested, I wouldnt blame you in the least. Also another thing that needs to be noted, if your console is nor i don't currently have the setup for those models. If interested pm me, if not as I stated before I wouldnt blame you in the least. Actually, I might be interested in doing something like this, depending on where I would need it send it, etc. I was on CFW 3.55 for a year or so (pretty much since it first came out actually), and then when attempting to update to a new 3.55 CFW I accidentally installed 3.60 OFW (I have a CECHE, by the way).
