Remarry w/ logic board only
Got a YLOD (RLOD?) PS3 recently with no blu-ray drive. After fixing it, and after some searching on why I was getting a black screen while trying to load up a Ninja Gaiden 3 Demo that was on the HDD, I discovered that the blu-ray drive (or from what I found, just the logic board) was required to run games and homebrew.
I got a logic board from eBay and installed it, hoping to use Factory Service Mode to remarry it to the console. The console reports that it's running on 3.15. I am able to get into FSM, and I am also able to get to the Drive Init screen, but it sits at "Executing.." forever. Disconnecting the large ribbon cable before running the Drive Init results in the pinkish "NG" to appear on the screen after a few seconds.
I have not tried downgrading to 2.30 yet, I figured I would ask here before trying something like that since it should work in 3.15. Also if it helps, the blue light on the console never flashes on boot or when pressing eject.
I can't seem to find an answer as to whether the blu-ray drive is actually required to remarry. If it is, I guess I'll just have to buy one.
If anyone can help me with getting the logic board remarried I would greatly appreciate it. :)
