First off let me say thanks to anyone that even reads this. I'm going blind staying up all night reading how to get my ps3 running and if I have to make another 100 trips from the tv to the pc i'll kill myself. Here is where it all starts. I got a ps3 with a busted blue ray drive with 3.55 ofw and figured i was ready to get my homebrew on. WRONG! I updated to cfw just fine but found out you need a working BD drive to run any homebrew. I get BSOD on everything right now. I took apart the ps3 to find out that someone has been in it before. I replaced what I guessed was a dead laser but it still won't run cfw. Now i believe the previous owner replaced the entire drive with controller board and all. The drive spins up and will change from blue ray to red if I put in a dvd, it just won't run anything. The system won't even show it's looking for the disc. All this makes me think I have the wrong controller board and need to remarry it. this is where my brain turns to mush. I can't for the life of me figure out how to remarry the drive. I have looked over tons of posts. some say to need to downgrade, some say you don't (i'm on rebug 3.55.2). I looked forever and I think I have the remarry files but I don't know how to downgrade. I also don't have a dongle. I'm not a total noob but all the posts I read look like i'm getting in after someone has started the remarry and has problems and gets it fixed, not a fresh start from a 3.55 cfw. I will buy what ever dongle ect i need and I have 3 working drives to try but for the life of me I can't get this to work. Thanks for anyone that can help me and i'm sorry to everyone who flames the hell out of me for asking something stupid.

Ok well all the links to the files didn't work. Same problem I had before. I guess the problem I'm not sure of is when I place all the files on the drive I guess I go to the upade firmware option? Then it updates/downgrades? And I didn't get an answer I do or do not need a dongle? I was looking at cfw to do a qa flag and downgrade that way but it seems that it's a homebrew app I have to run to qa flag so I'm going to guess that option is out for me as well.

OK progress. I was able to downgrade via android phone to 3.41. Then downgraded again to 2.30. put all files on usb, ran remarry process...but nothing happened. drive kicked on and skipped around a bit with blu laser going but after "remarry" it just booted to 2.30 in factory service mode with no blu ray. I have looked at other posts and it seems I must be missing a screen. people talk about a circle and an int fail or pass or something but I get nothing of the sort. just a "downgrade" and a reboot but nothing with the drive has changed. also I still don't even get the wait icon in the upper right corner when I put the disk in even though it takes it and spins up with laser going. I have to be missing a step or a file. Any help would be great! Anyone have similar trouble?

Ok, so as far as I understand you downgraded to 2.30 then went on factory service mode, but nothing happens when you insert the USB stick with the remarry files.
Hmm, did you put the USB stick on the far right USB port?

EDIT : Nevermind, you're using the wrong lv2diag
Check this page : Remarry Bluray Drive - PS3 Development Wiki

Also, you might run into trouble with BD playback if you have a NAND model now. If you do, try to update back to 3.41, boot recovery mode and use "Restore File System". If the drive (or at least the controller board) you're using is brand new you shouldn't have issues whatsoever.

do you mean the "trouble" with the bd not playing bd-discs. but playing dvds as well as game discs? thats the state i currently am. (the playback of blue ray discs is prohibited on this system) ....

Correct. I'm working on a fix for this, but I haven't received the controller board I ordered yet.
However the fix I'm working on is a "last resort" fix, there are tutorials on how to get BD playback but they don't work all the time. For me it doesnt work, so I'm trying something else.

EDIT : Sorry, no matter what I do, I can't seem to be able to find proper fixes for this

keep on trying, don't give up

haven't found any sollution for this yet ... i've read about something "downgrading to 2.30 or 2.10", which should give the db playback back, maybe with a new drive init or something ... but i can't believe that this would be true ...

Sorry, turns out I couldn't restore BD playback here because I read a recent BD on it that updated the revoke lists, revoking the BD playback rights for 3.55 and lower. So I can't really help.
