Remarry Blu-Ray Drive on 4.21
Remarry Blu-Ray Drive on 4.21 –

Hi there,
I've just registered on these forums after some extensive research, and was hoping for a more direct answer to a question concerning the remarry of a bluray drive to a 60GB "Fat" PS3.
I got given a 60GB PS3 (one of the first to be sold in Europe - CECHC03) with a dead bluray drive. After some inspection, I decided to just order a replacement drive assembly as the previous owner had tried to repair it themselves and not done a very good job. Besides that, the daughter board of the drive has sustained considerable damage from a source I am not sure of.. After receiving the replacement drive this morning, I have reattached it to the PS3 and of course, am presented now with the task of remarrying this new drive and daughter board to my PS3 system. However, I made the unfortunate decision to upgrade to 4.21 from Sony a few days ago.
Is there any way to remarry a blu-ray drive on 4.21? I am quite happy to solder or modify any part of the system; but as I understand it, a downgrade from 4.21 requires some form of third-party hardware which I would have to order, and all those on YouTube and scattered across Google are fake. All I am wanting to do is remarry the daughter board of the drive - not jailbreak anything (at least, not yet) - so is there any hope for my dilemma? I would rather not purchase anything further, but if it is the only way to go then I suppose my hand would be forced..
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on this for me.
Edit: I also have a rooted Android phone which can help if need be!

you could downgrade with progskeet if you want cfw but if you want to stay on 4.21 the only way is to remove the chip off the old daughter board and re-solder to a new daughter board just depends on what you want really.

Not really interested in CFW at the moment - can you give me more information on removing the chip from the old board and applying it to the new one please? I'd rather go for this method..

i've never done it myself, but as far as i know that requires to exchange the BGA NOR Flash on the BD logic board - it's definitely not easy considering the chip is BGA:
