Region locked PS2 games on JB PS3?
Region locked PS2 games on JB PS3? –

I apologize if this issue has been addressed, I tried to search before posting...
I have a launch PS3 with hardware PS2 support that I'm currently running Hermes v4 on. I'm wondering if there is a way to use the JB to play Japanese region PS2 games that I bought while I was abroad. They will not play on my NTSC PS3.
If I can't play them by launching the disc, I could always rip them to an ISO. But even then, is there any way to launch the ISOs right now? Will the ISO's still be subjected to region lockout?
Thank you for your help.

I believe the swap magic method of running ps2 games from the hard drive may be the best place to look.

That was my original planned method for playing the games, but I was reading on forums that it was fixed pre-3.41 firmware. Can anyone confirm? Can swap magic in fact load games off the internal hard drive or do they need to be on a flash drive (using USBAdvance or whatever)?

indeed i play ps2 games with my japanese ps3 60gb (1st rev) with this mod.
backups discs or games via opl (all regions) are working like a charme, even with 3.41
i just need a original japanese disc for swap.
thatīs my ps3 in action (mod & video made by chipwelt from ps3-tools.de)

I was hoping to have a method that utilized the JB and didn't require me to make hardware modifications to my PS3. Thanks for your help though. I guess I will just have to wait for now.
