red screen of death problem

Do a normal proper reflow of the board as if it was the YLOD error.

Me thinks Sony has changed the system nand recently to be able to display his RED SCREEN when an error has occured like the original YLOD error, to stop people from doing reflows, and to force them to paid Sony's high price.

obviously it could be that the nand chip displays the red screen of death as a result of a hardware failure (but what failure?). it will be difficult to reflow the board if necessary to fix the rsod if the newer placed nand chip prevents any type of non-pro reflowing fix to the board.

my mentor and I just repaired it this morning....changed one or two components on the board that went up and it works....no reflow....none of that nand nonsense.

What one or two components? -- Do you have pictures of what you replaced, or at least the area of the board to found the problem in? -- How did you diag. it was these one or two compoents?

The way how the customer is bitching for his console...I didn't have time to even take out pics.....I just assemble it and gave him it back and told him to get rid of it......and besides...if i show the components that went bad...everyone will feel that ALL RSOD consoles, that part is the one that goes bad....when you encounter one.....i'll PM you on what to check.

I have already encounter'ed two of them, but both times the customers were in such a rush and bad mood, that neither of them would left the unit with me long enough to diag it, never even cracked the seal.

In this rush rush city of mine with over 3 million people, and lots of small repair shops fighting for a piece of the pie, unless you can give clear picture and explain to them what is wrong in 5 minutes they walk out the door and go elsewhere, and unless you can open, repair, close, test the machine with 45 minutes they either will not pay or walk out the door and go elsewhere.

I have a glass showcase setup with all the bare boards for every single machine ever made, so i can quickly show people what our techs are going to do with their so-called pricely valuable machine that need to play urgently on.

So if you don't wish to publicly post the info in this thread which I can understand your reasons, even tho they are silly, at least humor me enough to at least PM me some info in advance before I get another angry PS3 owner walking in thru the door, so I have some armour and bullets to fight with, instead of just being called a dumb asshole and you don't know shit!

never heard about rsod but there was a problem on my friend 60 gig ps3 he got a bsod while playing a game after that when he came back to the menu
and inserted disks it didnt boot so all he had to do was return it back to sony and get a new one

Hey guys--same issue on my end--I have come across 4-5 of these units so far, have tried updates with USB stick, etc...nothing works! DarkMod--would you be so kind as to PM me or send an email advising what you did so I can see if it works on any of these machines that have been brought in to me? Would be incredibly appreciated...
