My system (Fat PS3 CECHG01) is currently back to 3.55OFW. Right before that i was running Kmeaw 3.55 and tested rebug for a few days. I then noticed that I lost BD Movie playback so I flashed the OFW hoping that would fix it.. It can read games but nothing else. I have been using MM and installed the BDEMU2.pkg and the BD Reset pkg, but that didn't help. From what i've been searching and reading it looks like i'm going to have to downgrade the ps3 using this guide http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/qa-...Bnew%5D-89286/

Where i'm a little confused about is how exactly do I go about getting bluray capabilities back. I see that some sites says I need to have 2.1 ofw. And then I am reading about some files in the flash directory that I need to back up. Does anyone have a link to a step by step on how to get bluray back?

I am just going to toss this idea, because I also thought for a minute that I had lost my BD movie playback a while back. What I had done was run MM and played a game. I then exit the game and inserted a BD movie. It did not want to play it. So what I did was turn off my PS3 and my BD movie playback returned.

So I tried troubleshooting the issue by making this issue happen again. It turns out that if I load a game using multiMAN it emulates the BD-ROM to be a game--so the quick way of fixing this without having to turn off my PS3 is to install the BD-ROM reset pkg that is available on every MM major release. Once I run that icon in the GAME XMB column, I can get my BD movie playback operational.

I wondered if this happened to you?

You can read more about these MM features in the user manual. Here is a PDF copy: multiMAN Beginner Guide.pdf
    PS3: Slim 320GB / CFW KMEAW 3.55 / multiMAN v04.xx.xx / blackb0x FTP Server v1.2 3.55 w/ FlashFXP 4.2.x
    PS2: SLIM & PHAT / FreeMcBOOT w/ESR & OPL 9-r651 / SMS w/PSClient v1.3.1
    PSP: PHAT / 5.00 M33-6

Yeah, I had tried the bd-rom reset pkg a few times, turning the ps3 off, rebooting and nothing. Was hoping dropping the ofw would bring everything back but it didn't. I'm just a little lost as to why my bd-rom and ps3 got "unmarried", if that's what happened. And why can it read games but not movies? All I've ever done was go from ofw, to kmeaw 3.55cfw and rebug 3.55.2. Never tried to downgrade, or switch the bd-rom or anything like that.

Perhaps it was rebug? Have you checked the rebug topics to see if anyone has reported this issue? Hopefully a fix can be found. Also try the link posted by stdule, hopefully that can help you also.

Also, is there a way you can check the directory structure of your HDD? See if perhaps PS3_GAME folder didn't get moved to the root of your drive--BD mirror that multiMAN does--but sometimes it can fail putting it back--that is the purpose of BD ROM reset. If yes, perhaps deleting this folder will bring back your BD movie playback? But you will have to be on CFW 3.55 to be sure it works? I dunno? Just guessing.

I checked it out but unfortunately the link to the files is dead. Anyone know where I could find the file?

I did two pieces of the PS3 with the same problem, I used E3 CARD READER, you need a Blu-Ray Disc movie-new.

    Edit wasn't working.

    According to the pdf

    7) 256Meg Fat Owners Read This
If you have a 256meg Fat Ps3 & have just replaced either the drive as a complete unit, or just the controller board, then chances are you will not know the history of the unit & will not be able to restore Blu-Ray playback at this time.
If you do know the history of the drive/controller, then when the procedure is completed, you will need to copy the correct DRL files from your PC to the PS3.
If you have a 256meg version that originally lost its ability to play Blu-Ray movies from the first round of downgrades and the drive is already matched up, this procedure will not restore your Blu-Ray playback.

Snce it was the drive that was already matched up, i think i'm screwed.
