Recovering game backups from ps3 hd?
Recovering game backups from ps3 hd? –

I had backed up my games onto my ps3 slim which I had jailbroken using psgroove in the USA and then brought it over to Europe but unfortunately I forgot my iPod which I was using to jailbreak the console with and did not bring the game discs with me
. Is there any way which I can recover the game backups onto an external drive from the ps3 while it is not jailbroken? I want to avoid paying for a ps3 jailbreak usb here because it would be to expensive. I just want to install REBUG(I don't need to jailbreak in order to install do I?) so I can play my backups, but that would wipe them off my drive correct? So if there is anyway to back them up onto an external drive, please let me know. If not then I guess I will try to buy a jailbreak usb.
Thanks for any help

Installing a firmware doesn't format your HDD. If you just want to install Rebug on this console then there is no problem, no jailbreak required, no data loss.
If you want to install 3.55, you may have a problem with newer games that you fixed for 3.41, like LBP2, Dead Space 2, GT5 and later. You will need original EBOOT files for them. Maybe you should try 3.41 CFW first(hermes, Rebug 3.41) and look for the files later.
The HDD is formated only when downgrading.
