Which is recommended for JB PS3 (Internal Drive or External Drive)??? –

I'm using PS3Key along w/ Open Manager 1.172 with my PS3 Slim (160GB, v3.41 firmware).
I have dumped about 6 games in my PS3's INTERNAL hard drive and they all work fine thus far. Is there any downside from playing games off Internal as opposed to using an External Drive....or does it not matter?
I'm not planning on building a huge library of games so drive size is irrelevant, but I just want to make sure that using Internal Drive is okay and not something that will potentially ruin my PS3 or it's components.
Thanks.

Files on external can't be over 4 gb, otherwise you need to split them. Internal is easier to use imo...if you have the space

Internal is fine....
I use both because I'm a collector now
if it needs to use Internal I'll back it onto the Internal if it can work off External I put it on the External.....

I always use the internal because the load times on the internal are much faster. I'm planning to upgrade my 160GB hdd to a 750GB hdd ^_^

Thanks for the replies guys. One last question.....I've noticed that at random boot times, the screen repeatedly flickers when in JB mode. I'm forced to shut everything down and restart and that usually solves the issue. It has happened twice today when I started up my PS3.
Is this normal using JB.....or could this be a sign of something going bad on my PS3?

I think its your JB device, since I got a AVRKEY and after using it 3 times, the 4th time it goes into programming mode =/ so I gotta restart my ps3.
PS3 Phat with 500GB
1 TB External
AVRKEY (ATMEGA32U2) - 32KB Onboard Flash Memory
Future List -
- PS3 Move Set
Thank you Geohot and fail0verfl0w for fully hacking the PS3.

I would go for both actually…External drives currently are bigger than 2.5mm internals, but yet, you will find that there are ALOT of PS3 games that require install…I have 80GB PS3 and God of War 3 and Race Driver Grid is installed, but there is ALOT of game data from other games like Need for Speed Shift, Grand Theft Auto IV/Liberty City Stories and then you got the updates for other games that require updates to run, etc….but you also got games like God of War Collection, Race Driver Grid (only two I can think of off the top of my head) that have 4GB+ files..in fact, Race Driver Grid has ONE file that is like 15GB of the entire 16.xGB game! So, I say get as big of a internal 5400RPM as you can afford (750GB would be good) and at LEAST a 1TB external. Newegg is currently offering a 1.5TB Western Digital external for $89 right now…

I use both versions (because HDDs are cheap).
There are some games which run on external and not on internal.
So its good to have both solutions.

If you have some cash to burn use a SSD as internal (SSD for its speed) and a 2TB as external hdd
