rebug 4.21 help needed
hey everybody,
i have successfully upgraded to rebug 4.21 rex, but i ran into problems. that is most of my games do not work.
i went from kmeaw to 4.21 rebug after i toggled qa. i also installed the rebug toolbox where i switched to rebug mode as this is recommended everywhere. i also have the latest multiman version installed.
all of my games sit on the internal hdd, but only two of them work.
the other games give me blackscreens. some freeze the ps3 and in some i am able to use the ps button to exit the game (from the blackscreen).
i tried different options in multimans gamesettings for different games and i also tried recopying it to the internal hdd, but nothing changes. it doesn't matter if i update the games either, no matter if it is done through multiman or xmb.
i have only one usb drive and it doesn't matter which port it is plugged in or if it is plugged in at all.
i am desperate. i read up on this for days now and didn't find a solution. the day before i installed rebug on my console we installed rogero 4.30 on a friends ps3. on his ps3 everythings running very well and he is very happy with it. but i thought it would be nice to have the linux option and everyone says that rebug is the ultimate cfw, so i decided i should try it.
can anybody help? did anyone experience the same problems and have a solution?
could it be a bad install of the rebug cfw? i read somewhere that some guy did reinstall rebug and then everything worked. but can i do that? install rebug 4.21 rex over rebug 4.21 rex directly?
i am confused and desperate! and i really hope you can help me!
thanks,
spoone

I would read through the forums deank tells you how to fix the games through multiman, also make sure you are using original eboots, thats what I did atleast.
To help get you going, all you have to do is update the game in multiman (highlight the game, press square) and then install the pkg(s) it downloads for the game. I have 1 or 2 games I couldnt get working, one was batman AC, but 'I just got the GOTY edition and then it worked fine (goty=game of the year).
This is the 3rd time I have left this type of post, I don't know how much reading you have done, but I would search this site. I stumbled across some helpful tips, so if you are actively searching you should have no problem getting your games working.

i am reading the forums since the day that rebug 4.21 was released. but nothing i have found seems to work.
of course i am using original eboots. i updated the games through multiman but it doesn't make a difference. a fresh install through multiman of uncharted 1 for example doesn't work. after updating the game through multiman it still won't work. tried bd-mirror option, internal option and others in the multiman gamesettings. tried with and without a disc in the drive. tried starting the game from disc icon and apps/home. all to no avail.
it makes me crazy.

the guy you are talking about who reinstalled it
its this guy right http://psx-scene.com/forums/f177/jus...21-cfw-107990/ ? send him a pm and ask how he reinstalled it.
i see in your post you say you recopied the games, but was that from your pc to ps3, or directly from the game disc? if its from the pc, the eboots may not be original to begin with.

i own the games. so i always do that directly in multiman. apart from the jap/us mashup version of catherine i never downloaded a ps3 game.
thanks for the link. i'll ask jamiez how he did re-install rebug.
but if anyone knows anything regarding my issue, please tell.

same case here http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/hyp...ia-mk2-107630/
solution:
- if you use ush HDD, make sure to plug it in port 000 (the right most slot, near blu-ray)
- do not plug any thing on port 006 (left most slot, in Backward compatible PS3, its 2nd slot from the right)
in your case, sine you use internal hdd, unplug any USB device on your PS3 and restart PS3, then retry the games you had problem before

thanks for the tip rimi!
i already tried with and without having usb-hdd/anything plugged into the usb-ports. i tried with all ports. i'll try that again when i come home.
BUT i think i had the usb-hdd from which i installed the rebug 4.21 cfw plugged in the left most slot during installation of the cfw. do you think this could cause my problem?

I dont see how that could ruin an install, I hav never heard anything about these port settings rimi is talking about. I hav a 2 Tb in one and a 150Gb in the other and mine is working.
Try this
-download and install the Rebug Toolbox, run it and then put it in Rebug mode
-delete all game data
-go back to 4.08.00 MM and use MM to update to 4.10.00 MM
-remove all radio buttons in MM on the game options (square)
-if that does not work try just BD-Mirror
hope that helps.
Btw did you find Deank's post on how to use multiman to install the games?
-
the first thing i did after rebug was installed, was installing the toolbox and setting it to rebug.
i always delete the game data for the game i am trying to load before i start over/try again to launch it/load it in multiman. one thing i noticed was that a game that doesn't work always creates new game data with a size of 1 or 2 kb and there is just a placeholder image for these entries. is that normal?
the update data in game data shows the correct filesize of the update as well as the right image for the game.
i updated multiman through multiman too. i also reinstalled the pkg files that come with multiman, of course the ones for the 4.xx firmwares and everything seems to be ok. i mean, no problem in xmb and no problems in multiman. even the two actually working games run without any problems.
but the others don't. and i definitely have the original eboots.
i also tried without any game options set as well as just the bd-mirror option. but it doesn't help.
BUT, guess what, i just got uncharted 1 to work from external. all i did was copy it over from the internal. so the files are obviously ok. and i updated it through multiman prior to copying it to external. the game just works. no game options set.
so i guess i can just copy all the games to my external, but then what did i upgrade my internal to 750gb for?
thanks for all your answers so far, but i really hope i/we will find a solution!
i checked the game compatibility list and the games should work on internal.
so what the hell did i do wrong? still desperate. (although not as much as before thanks to them working from external.)
has anyone more ideas?

Sorry for the late reply, can u tell me what path you are using to run games from your internal? just humor me. I use Hdd/GAMES (GAMES capped). I have a 750GB internal as well and have had only a problem with DOA5.
Have you tried it with no radio options checked? Ihats what I use. NO BD mirror, NO EXTERNAL NO NOTHING. just to be clear :). I saw in the last message u were using just the BD mirror.
I only checked back in here3e to make sure you were using the Rebug toolbox, glad u posted that.
I have helped a few ppl out and hav seen that either they were not using the rebug toolbox, needed original eboots, using no radio buttons, also some games needed to be updated.
Its been a week and i havent seen a post since the one i missed so I hope you got it working.
Edit: I didn't catch the part about the 4.XX games WORKING. so is it just games 3.6x and below that are not working? and do the 4.xx one only work on external?
