Quick Question about DRL files in dev_flash3
Quick Question about DRL files in dev_flash3 –
i'm currently awaiting my ATMEGA32U4 i just ordered from ebay so i can put my ps3 into service mode and remarry a new bluray drive to it however i'm wondering if i need the DRL files since i'm noty sure of the last bluray the drive has played. I dont wont nor need to play actual bluray disc.
I guess my main question is do i need these files in order to run homebrew apps? currently nothing runs without the drive being married.
Once your new bluray drive is married to the console (assuming its in working order) it should launch homebrew fine. As homebrew black screens without a working drive, i'm assuming you cant get any homebrew to load at the moment right?
This would make getting your DRL files quite a pain if your not very experienced(I think it would need a hardware flasher? correct me if im wrong somebody). Also the need for these files depends on whether or not you have a NAND or NOR console.
The loss of Blu-Ray playback is only a problem for NAND consoles (model CECHAXX-CECHGXX). After downgrading a NAND console, the DRL files are updating with an MKV1? file that may be corrupt?
This causes the loss of blu-ray playback in NAND consoles.
If you are not interested in playing Blu-ray Movies on the console, then you do not need to worry about saving DRL files.
If you need some more clarification on it, please uses the search function to look for some of Mark Webber's Threads/posts as he has an impressive working knowledge of the Blu-ray Drive and its remarry process.
